The smaller, entirely soft standard version often allowed local pressure to push its outer wall outward, interrupting texture contact. The thicker, firmer custom exterior substantially reduced this deformation and stabilised the two brush-like sides. The soft interior still yields while the exterior supplies more substantial support.

Material and maintenance compromises

More material does not resolve the strong smell, sticky feel or durability concerns; it increases the area needing cleaning and care. An official external fabric sleeve reduces direct hand contact with the exterior, but changes neither the inner material nor the need for cleaning and care according to instructions.
